Two Claremont businesses were burglarized over the weekend.

The first burglary occurred at Claremont Optometry on 695 west Foothill Boulevard in the early morning of January 6, according to a release from the Claremont Police Department. Just after 5:30 a.m., officers responded to the optometry after its burglary alarm activated.

Police learned that an unknown suspect had thrown two large bricks into the store, reached in through a hole in the window and shattered another glass containing Oakley glasses. The suspect reached in and took an unknown amount of glasses, police said.

There are no leads on suspects, and police are investigating.

Mr. You’s Express on 402 Auto Center Drive was burglarized the next morning, on January 7. Officers responded to a burglary alarm at the restaurant around 3:10 a.m. and discovered a burglar had shattered the front glass door, police said.

An unknown amount of cash was taken from the register, and the burglar fled undetected, police added. An investigation is ongoing.
