Volunteers needed to help with Claremont homeless count on Tuesday

Volunteers are needed to assist with the 2019 greater Los Angeles homeless count on Tuesday, January 22.

The city will participate in in partnership with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.

To register to volunteer, email vvan@ci.claremont.ca.us or call (909) 399-5356. Please include your name and phone number, and if you are interested in being a driver.

Volunteers will meet at the Joslyn Center on 660 N. Mountain Ave. at 8 p.m. on the evening of the count to receive training, maps, materials and assignments. Teams of two to four volunteers will then be deployed to count specific blocks within Claremont. All routes will be counted from a private vehicle. No walking is required.

It is estimated that each team will spend two to three hours in the field.

The data gathered during this count will be used to determine how vital resources and services will be provided to the homeless individuals and families that reside in our community and throughout the Los Angeles area.

More information is available by phone at (909) 399-5356 or email at   vvan@ci.claremont.ca.us.
