Would-be smoke shop burglars scared off by witness
Police are looking for a group of would-be burglars who tried to break into a local smoke shop.
Around 1:40 a.m. on March 24, a witness noticed a suspicious car park in several different parking stalls in front of Smokeology at 348 south Indian Hill Boulevard, Claremont police said in a release.
The car was described only as a tan 90s model 4-door sedan, and it was occupied by five African-American men, all appearing to be in their teens, police said. The driver was reportedly wearing a beanie and all were wearing jeans and dark-colored sweatshirts.
The witness saw the car move to the rear of the smoke shop, and three of the occupants got out of the car and were seen attempting to pry open the rear door. The suspects then saw the witness watching them and fled in the car, police said.
They did not make entry into the business.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399-5411.
