Two arrested after group burglarizes Village sneaker shop
Two people were arrested for burglarizing a Village sneaker shop Monday night, and police are looking for other suspects.
At 11:44 p.m., a witness called police when he noticed a “large group of males” smashing the glass at Authentix Sneaker and Clothing Boutique at 143 Harvard Avenue and stealing shoes, police said.
As officers arrived to the area, two suspects carrying shoes were detained on Yale Avenue north of First Street. They were later identified as 41-year-old Andrew Simon of Pomona and 26-year-old Chanelle Hall of La Quinta.
The glass panel to the shop had been shattered, police said, and multiple pairs of shoes had been stolen. The others in the group were seen fleeing south on College Avenue across the railroad tracks. They were not found, police said.
Witness descriptions of the suspects who escaped were vague; they were only described as African-American men in their late teens. Anyone with information regarding the crime should call the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399-5411.
