After eight months, Pilgrim Place makes Ronald Bolding CEO

The Board of Directors of Pilgrim Place is pleased to announce Ronald Bolding as its new Chief Executive Officer on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.  Ron has just completed eight months as the Interim President and CEO of Pilgrim Place and begins his new role immediately.  

Ron has extensive experience in providing health to elders, most recently he completed 12 years as President and Chief Executive Officer of Inter Valley Health Plan, a senior health plan headquartered in Pomona, California. Ron provided strategic vision and expertise to this $290 million enterprise, which services more than 22,000 members and is one of the region’s leading not-for-profit organizations.  Under his stewardship the organization doubled in participation and expanded its goals to include numerous programs focused upon improving the local community.
 
Ron was raised in the Watts district of Los Angeles. He is a graduate of Ripon College, Wisconsin, with BA degrees in Economics and History.  Upon graduation he entered the US Navy serving 28 years and retiring with the rank of Navy Captain.  His service included combat deployment aboard the USS Decatur and as battalion Commander for Cargo Handling Battalion 14, providing stateside support during Operation Desert Storm.  He was awarded both the Navy Commendation Medal and the Joint Service Commendation Medal.
 
Following his military career Ron worked in management of health care institutions, including extensive responsibilities for infrastructure and facilities.
 
Ron’s local community involvement is extensive. His practical knowledge of Senior Living Communities includes years of volunteer service on the Board of Directors, including a term as vice-chairman, at Mount San Antonio Gardens.   Believing that “hope can be inspired through selfless acts of faithful service,” Ron has been an active community advocate for seniors as well as for homeless veterans and a mentor for those of college and high school age.

Ron is a member of the Los Angeles County Fair Association, a Board member of the Claremont Senior Foundation, Inland Valley Hope Partners, and Pomona Habitat for Humanity. He has also served on the boards for the local Red Cross and Community Senior Services.

He is a recent recipient of the Western University of Health Sciences “Tribute to Caring” award for work in promoting the availability of health services to the greater Pomona Valley area. Ron has also received the Pomona Chamber of Commerce’s  Employer of the Year award; the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Corporate Citizenship award; and the Pomona Boys and Girls Club’s  Community Service award. Ron was the inspirational keynote speaker at the 37th annual Pomona Inland Valley Martin Luther King Jr. Project Celebration. Through his church, he has also served as organizing support for an orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya.
