Police looking for robbers who hit Stater Bros employee with stolen alcohol

Claremont police are looking for two people who hit a Stater Bros employee with an alcohol bottle as they were stealing the booze on Monday.

The two suspects entered the supermarket at 1055 west Foothill Boulevard, walked to the alcohol section and stole four bottles of alcohol, Lt. Karlan Bennett said in a release.

As the thieves tried to leave with the alcohol, an employee tried to confront them, police said. One of the suspects used one of the stolen bottles to hit the employee in the face.

The thieves got away with the booze in a grey and tan 90s model Saturn 4-door, police said.

One suspect is described as an African-American man in his early 20s, wearing a red sweatshirt, dark pants and white shoes. The second suspect was also described as an African-American man in his 20s, wearing a black t-shirt, light blue pants and black shoes.

They were last seen driving northbound on Towne Avenue toward the 210 freeway, police said.
