Ophelias Jump presents ‘It’s A Wonderful Life’ with council, locals

A troupe of actors, including Claremont city council members and staff, will recreate a radio version of the film It’s A Wonderful Life at Ophelia’s Jump in Upland from November 8 through December 15.

Set in a radio studio in 1946, the show will have locals performing live Foley sounds and several roles, as well as leading the audience on a holiday sing-a-long.

This family-friendly adaptation of the classic movie is recreated as a 1946 live radio broadcast from “KOJP Upland Radio.” The show stars Dani Bustamante, Beatrice Casagran, Janette Combs, Caitlin Lopez, Randy Lopez and Blake McCormack.

Each performance will feature special appearances by Claremont and Upland community members. Four special performances will be double features with It’s A Wonderful Life in the first act and a holiday themed improv for the second act.

Opening weekend, Friday, November 8 through Sunday, November 10, features guest actors CUSD school board member Steven Llanusa, Karen Fagan and Bob Fagg.

Friday, November 15 through Sunday, November 17 includes Sam Pedroza, Julie Pedroza and Jim Weaver.

Friday, November 22 through Sunday, November 24 will bring Claremont Mayor Corey Calaycay, Eric Gustavo, Janel Henrikson Hastings and Bob Fagg.

On Thanksgiving weekend, Friday, November 29 through Sunday, December 1, City councilmember Jennifer Stark, City Manager Tara Schultz and Joe Lyons will perform.

Then from Friday, December 6 through Sunday, December 8, Last Name Brewing owners Andy Dale and Karen McMillan will perform with City Councilmembers Jed Leano and Larry Schroeder.

Finally, on closing weekend Friday, December 13 through Sunday, December 15, Councilmembers Ed Reece and Ms. Stark, along with Nathalie Windeggar will perform.

The show begins Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 4 p.m., with specially crafted holiday cocktails sold one-hour before curtain.

General admission tickets are $28; children under 12 are admitted for $20. Ophelia’s Jump is located at 2009 Porterfield Way, Suite H in Upland.
