Walter Hoefflin talks about his friend William Demastus, 95, on Saturday during a memorial for Mr. Demastus at the Claremont Villas senior apartments in Claremont. Friends of Mr. Demastus, who was an avid swimmer, also gathered at the complex’s swimming pool to honor their fellow resident.
