Second coronavirus case reported in Claremont

County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health reports a second confirmed case of the novel coronavirus in the City of Claremont in a news release sent out Tuesday afternoon.

No further information about age or gender of either of Claremont’s confirmed cases is available.

The county has verified 10 new deaths and 548 new cases of COVID-19 since its previous update on Monday. Six of the 10 deaths reported Tuesday occurred in people over the age of 65, two between ages 41 and 65, and two between ages 18 and 40. All were reported to have underlying health conditions except for one individual between 18 and 40 years of age. Additional information regarding some of the new cases is pending further investigation. Over the past 48 hours, there have been 890 new cases reported.

Public health has identified 3,011 total cases across all areas of Los Angeles County, including 54 deaths. Upon further investigation, 11 cases reported earlier were not Los Angeles County residents. As of Tuesday, 594 people who tested positive for COVID-19 (20 percent of positive cases) had been hospitalized at some point during their illness.
