Council to consider protections for renters

The next regular meeting of the city council is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14 at 6:30 p.m. The public will not be permitted to be physically present for this meeting, but residents can watch from their home computers through the interactive video program Zoom.

The agenda for the meeting, which should have been posted on the city’s website Thursday, will contain information on how to participate.

One item of note on the agenda is consideration of adopting an urgency notice aimed to provide protections for Claremont renters who “suffer a substantial financial hardship related to COVID-19.” The emergency ordinance, if adopted, will expire May 31, 2020.

More information and a copy of the ordinance is on the city’s website, www.ci.claremont.ca.us or you can request a copy from the city clerk by calling (909) 399-5461.
