City plans for virtual Memorial Day service

Due to COVID-19, the city has made the difficult decision to cancel the annual Memorial Day service in Oak Park Cemetery, according to the latest city manger’s report.

Instead, the city will be presenting a Memorial Day video tribute that will be available online at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 25. The tribute will include a photo slideshow of servicemen and women who died in the line of duty.

The city is asking for the community’s help with this project and to recognize fallen soldiers on Memorial Day. If you know someone who died during active military service and you would like them to be honored during the video tribute, please email a photo of the service member to by Wednesday, May 13.

When submitting the photo, include the person’s full name and any additional information you have or feel comfortable sharing, including branch of the military, rank in the military and dates of service.

The service member does not need to have been a Claremont resident.
