Botanic garden to host ‘Taste Wild’ dessert event

The California Botanic Garden is offering ‘Taste Wild,” which includes a delicious spread of desserts crafted with seasonal flowers, herbs and other ingredients that speak to the true flavors of California.

The garden invites residents to join them virtually and enjoy these specialty desserts prepared with California native plants and learn about the amazing culinary uses, cultural legacies and health benefits of these species.

California Botanic Garden is partnering with caterer As You Like It and the Chia Café Collective, a group of local tribal members and collaborators that honors indigenous people.

Event registrants will be able to pick up a bakery box of four unique desserts made with native plants, including an elderflower lemon tart, black sage fudge, bay laurel pound cake and a Sonoran cookie.

The box will also contain recipes, tasting notes and instructions for joining the botanic garden at the private virtual tasting event via Zoom on Thursday, May 14 from 6 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $35 for members, $45 for the general public or $60 for VIP.
