Palomares League most valuable player and first team awards were announced last month with several Claremont athletes getting deserved accolades.

Boys soccer received both the offense MVP, Jack Englenbert, and defense MVP, Caleb Green. First team honorees are: Sajjad Alobaidi, Jared DeMott, Ethan Maio and Cole Burdette. Boys basketball first team honoree is Jacob Lopez.

Maddie Coles is the girls soccer offense MVP. First team honorees are: Samantha Healy, Riley Zitar, Emily Maass and Avery Gonzalez.

Maddie Waasdorp shared the girls water polo MVP award with Glendora’s Ellie Travisano, first team honorees are: Maddie Romero and Adriana Wong. Girls basketball first team honorees are Jessica Andrada and Sidney Sparks.

As a side note the girls water polo co-MVPs Waasdorp and Ellie Travisano both play for Rose Bowl Aquatics and are training for Junior Olympics in San Jose in July.

Maddie is a senior and will be playing for San Diego State next year, while Ellie is going into her senior year, according to Maddie’s father Jack Waasdorp.

Football program sells facemasks for fundraiser

The Claremont High School football team is selling Wolfpack face coverings to raise money for the upcoming season.

CHS football has teamed up with MVP Fundraising in a campaign that is currently open and ends on June 3.

The face coverings come in two designs: a face mask and a gaiter. Both are black with a maroon Wolfpack logo. The cost is $19.99 for one covering or $57 for a pack of three.
