Claremont resident Jane Goodfellow adjusts the American flag on the grave of her husband Jack on Memorial Day in Claremont. The couple were married for 50 years when Mr. Goodfellow, a Navy veteran, died in 2008. Ms. Goodfellow visits his grave weekly to change the flowers and keep it tidy. She also attends to the grave of her second husband Bob Weatherton. The city of Claremont cancelled the annual Memorial Day observance because of the coronavirus, however, a short video saluting the veterans who died in combat can be seen at the city’s website.
