City hall reopens after workers test negative

Claremont City Hall was closed on Monday after three employees reported feeling flu-like symptoms, Public Information Officer Bevin Handel told the COURIER.

Ms. Handel said that three employees from different departments at city hall called in over the weekend reporting the symptoms.

On Wednesday, Ms. Handel said that all three had tested negative and that city hall would reopen on Monday.

The city had initially put into place a plan for all 40 city hall employees to telecommute for two weeks, but that will not be necessary now.

“We have protocols in place, so we are just being cautions,” Ms. Handel said on Monday. “We did telecommuting before so everyone will telecommute until further notice.”

The three workers are feeling better but what caused the illness remains a mystery.
