Sixteen cars, two businesses vandalized in Claremont Village

At 5:45 p.m. Thursday, multiple callers on 9-1-1 reported that a man was using two large metal poles to vandalize cars in the Claremont Village, according to the Claremont Police Department.

Claremont police officers responded and were directed toward the Depot, where they located a man who is known by officers as 35-year-old Adam Negrete.

Mr. Negrete was yelling incoherently and was still waving one of the metal poles, according to police. Due to his violent nature and failure to comply, a TASER was deployed and he was taken into custody. Mr. Negrete displayed possible signs of excited delirium, police said.

Officers monitored Mr. Negrete until the Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived. He was transported to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center for treatment and observation.

After he was transported, officers located 16 vehicles that had windows broken out and two businesses, also with broken windows, including The Depot at 200 W. First St. and the Himalayan Collection at 272 W. Second St.
