In its daily new briefing released on Friday, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has reported three new institutional outbreaks of the coronavirus, including the Claremont Police Department.
Public Health reports that three people have tested positive at CPD, but there are no further details. The COURIER has reached out to both the police department itself and the city’s Public Information Officer Bevin Handel for more information.
The two additional outbreaks include Mountain View Center on Base Line Road where five residents have tested positive and biomedical manufacturing firm Therapak where four people are positive.
Sadly, one person at Claremont Manor has died even as the number of cases has stabilized.
Claremont overall now has 274 cumulative cases in both the city and its unincorporated areas, and six deaths.
Countywide there were 3,116 new cases reported Friday and 53 deaths. That brings the cumulative total to 204,167 and 4,918 deaths. The number of people hospitalized fell again to 1,680 people 30 percent of whom are in ICU.
