Library Friends present poetry series live over Facebook

The Friends of the Claremont Library’s long-running Fourth Sundays poetry event takes place at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 25.

The poetry series is for the time being a virtual event, livestreaming over Facebook at www.facebook.com/fourthsundayspoetry.

This month’s reading showcases the work of poets Lynne Thompson and Genevieve Kaplan.

Ms. Thompson is the author of Start With a Small Guitar, Beg No Pardon, winner of the Great Lakes Colleges New Writers Award, and Fretwork, which was selected by Jane Hirshfield for the 2019 Marsh Hawk Poetry Prize.

Ms. Thompson’s recent work appears or is forthcoming in Ploughshares, Pleiades, Ninth Letter, december, and Best American Poetry 2020. She serves on the boards of Scripps College, Cave Canem, and the Los Angeles Review of Books.

Ms. Kaplan is the author of (aviary), 2020, 2011’s In the ice house, and three chapbooks. Her poems can be found in Third Coast, Spillway, Denver Quarterly, South Dakota Review, Poetry Magazine and other journals. A new chapbook, I exit the hallway and turn right, is forthcoming from above/ground press. She lives in southern California where she edits the Toad Press International chapbook series, publishing contemporary translations of poetry and prose.
