Repeat offender from Upland arrested for pharmacy burglary

On January 15, 2021, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the Upland Police Department advised that suspects had attempted to break into two pharmacies in their city. Claremont Officers conducted welfare checks of the pharmacies within the City of Claremont. It didn’t take long for an alarm activation occurring at Hendricks Pharmacy at 4:47 a.m., located at 137 Harvard Ave. Officers discovered that a suspect had thrown a football-sized rock at the front door to the pharmacy. As Claremont Officers were responding to the call, they observed a silver Chevrolet Silverado in the nearby area and were able to obtain a partial license plate number.

A short time later, Upland PD advised they had another alarm activation at one of their pharmacies. They responded and located a silver Chevrolet Silverado that had a license plate that contained the partial numbers observed by Claremont Officers. A suspect was located a short distance away and admitted to attempting to break into the Upland and Claremont pharmacies. The same suspect had previously been arrested by Claremont Police in November of 2019 for a similar burglary at Hendricks Pharmacy. The suspect Julio Garcia, a 24-year-old resident of Upland, was arrested by Upland police and later transported to the West Valley Detention Center charged with burgla
