CHS alumni join 100th year party

Nearly 20 visiting Claremont High School alumni joined with the current student body, staff and administration to commemorate the 100th anniversary of CHS in the central quad on Friday.

Sharon Esterley of the Class of 1961 presented Claremont Unified School District Interim Superintendent Gloria Johnston, Board President Beth Bingham, CHS principal Brett O’Connor and Associated Student Body President Chris Collins with a commemoration plaque as part of the occasion that brought together multiple generations.

“I love celebrating the building and the foundation of the Old School House leading to the new one and I want to thank all of the faculty, staff and school boards from past years for building a foundation for the young people that have graduated from this school,” Ms. Esterley said. “You gave us confidence, you gave us knowledge, prepared us for adulthood and launched us [into the world].”
