COURIER Athlete of the Month: Brittany Brown

CHS senior Brittany Brown has really stretched her legs this year, metaphorically and literally. The all-around track standout has lit up the opposition in almost every 100-meter dash this season. At the Sierra League preliminaries last weekend, Ms. Brown took yet another first place, finishing the 100 in 12.58 seconds and putting fear into the rest of the league’s runners. Later on that day, Ms. Brown missed out on winning the 200-meter race by 44 hundredths of a second.

At the Mt. SAC Invite, Ms. Brown ran an 11.79 second 100-meter dash, good for 2nd place by a slim margin. Ms. Brown helped her team capture a 3rd straight Sierra League title, following wins in dual meets against St. Lucy’s, Charter Oak, and Ayala this month. Ms. Brown will look to beat her own 100-meter school record of 11.71, as well as set a school mark in the 200-meter dash for which she currently has the 2nd-best time.
