City releases study on townhome complex impact

The city of Claremont has released an initial environmental study for the proposed 95-unit townhome complex to take over the 6-acre vacancy on the southeast corner of Base Line Road and Towne Avenue.

Staff asserts the project, led by developer City Ventures, will not have a significant effect on the environment, but will “enhance” the site in connection with neighboring communities. Mitigation measures in terms of air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, geology and soils, noise, and transportation and traffic will be included, according to staff. A Mitigated Negative Declaration (MND) has been prepared.

The public review period for this initial study and draft MND, which can be viewed on the city’s website, will conclude on September 17. Questions or comments may be directed to Associate Planner Luke Seibert at 399-5483.
