Changes in landscape at Harvard Square

As construction continues on the interior of Bardot, the new restaurant from Alain Fournier who created the original restaurant at that location in 1991, some outdoor modifications are underway, as well. A full-grown Peppertree, which stood at about 30 feet or so, was cut back on Friday by a non-city work crew. According to Mr. Fournier, the tree is not a city tree, but is located on the restaurant’s private property. The tree is located on the north side of Harvard Square along Bonita Avenue, adjacent from Shelton Park. An awning at Bardot’s patio had been approved by the city and required the tree to be cut back for construction. Mr. Fournier is also owner of Café Allegro in both Upland and La Verne and his new eatery will be located on the lower level of Harvard Square, replacing Harvard Square Café.
