Golden State Water initiates shortfall true-up surcharge

Beginning last week, Claremont residents will see a slight increase in their monthly water bill, listed on the bill as a Shortfall True-up surcharge, according to the city manager’s report. This temporary surcharge is the result of the delay in the regulatory review process of the GSW General Rate Case. Due to the delay by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), Golden State was unable to charge customers the actual cost to provide water service earlier this year, and is authorized to recover the revenue shortfall caused by the difference between interim rates. The interim rate took effect January 1, 2013 and the final rates were approved on May 9, 2013.

Golden State Water implementing the approved surcharge beginning Thursday, October 24, 2013 and will expire it on October 23, 2014. For questions or concerns, contact Golden State Water Company at 394-3600.
