Claremont police are asking the public’s help in identifying a man caught on camera taking a typewriter from a Village business on Sunday afternoon.

The man entered Xerxes For Gents, located at 319 Yale Ave., around 11:43 a.m. and appeared to be browsing items. But while the owner was tending to other customers, the man grabbed a black vintage 1920s “Royal” typewriter from the shelf, and concealing the typewriter with his body, walked out of the store.

Police have obtained video images of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in tracking him down. Any information on the crime or identity of the suspect should be reported to the Claremont Police Department at 399-5420.
