Claremont Lewis Museum of Art receives major grant
The Claremont Lewis Museum of Art recently announced that it was awarded a 2024 general operating support grant of $405,000 over three years from the Perenchio Foundation, a private foundation established by the late A. Jerrold Perenchio.
“The grant from the Perenchio Foundation is a significant vote of confidence in the museum and acknowledges all the hard work that the board, staff, and the community have put in over the years,” Martin Betz, executive director of CLMA, wrote in a statement. “As you can imagine it’s not a magic bullet for long-term sustainability but gives us a boost in our mission to be the arts and culture hub in the region. As with all things non-profit, there is much work to do!”
“Our multi-year General Operating Support Grants provide LA County arts organizations with unrestricted funding, which may be used for costs including but not limited to payroll and benefits for staff, rent or mortgage, leadership and staff development, and strategic planning,” according to the grant’s overview at perenchiofoundation.org. “By offering flexible support with a commitment for multiple years, we aim to help arts organizations strengthen their infrastructure, plan from a place of greater confidence and stability, build capacity, and address immediate needs.”
