Woman arrested for assault with a deadly weapon

The Claremont Police Department was called to the Claremont Lodge, 736 S. Indian Hill Blvd., at 8:10 a.m. Friday to assist the Los Angeles County Fire Department in rendering aid to an injured man, according to a news release from Claremont lieutenant Jason Walters.

Police say the 45-year-old man had been stabbed in the hand by a female while in a room at the hotel. He was transported to a local hospital where doctors operated on the injured hand.

The suspect, later identified as Jazmine Weldon, 18, from Canoga Park, fled the scene before officers arrived. Through their investigation police were able to learn Weldon’s identity and located her at 11:30 a.m. in the 4100 block of Mission Boulevard in Montclair.

Weldon was arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon and mayhem, and was taken to the CPD jail where she was booked and bail was set a $100,000. She was scheduled to appear at the Pomona Superior Court on Tuesday.
