Great-grandmother, 31-year Claremont McKenna College employee

Mary Margaret Schuster Anderson was born April 3, 1949 in Montebello, California. She died on Monday, April 10, 2023 at age 74.

“We look forward to seeing her again someday!” her family shared.

As a child, Mary proclaimed her faith in Christ as her personal savior. She graduated from Montebello High School in 1968, where she played flute in the marching band, and in retirement served on the reunion committee. During her teens, she also belonged to Job’s Daughters, Bethel #93, in Whittier, California.

She was the administrative assistant for the political science department of the Keck Center for International and Strategic Studies on the campus of Claremont McKenna College for 31 years, and shared her expertise at Journey Community Church in Fontana.

A talented seamstress, she delighted in making things for others. She sewed Easter baskets, Halloween costumes, and doll clothes for her grandchildren. She made dozens of blankets for children at the Ronald McDonald House as well as the Stagi Cornerstone Orphanage in Lokoja, Nigeria.

In retirement, the couple participated in many car shows, where they exhibited their vintage El Camino.
