Robert E. Boyens

Favorite uncle, sports fan

Bob Boyens died on October 13, 2014. He was 68.

He was born on October 13, 1946.  His family settled in Pomona and Bob spent his youth enjoying success in many different sports including boxing, baseball, football and tennis. He was also involved in the Boy Scouts and very active in the Catholic Church.

Mr. Boyens grew up to be a man on a mission of helping the less fortunate, and did so every chance he got. Additionally, he worked to support many outreach groups by finding them work assignments. He gave back to his community and in turn had many friends in the area.

Mr. Boyens spent numerous afternoons coaching his great nephew, Landen, in track and attended every one of his varsity football games. He has always held the title of “favorite uncle” and it suited him. He truly enjoyed taking all the kids fishing or to the beach, wherever the whole group could have fun!

Upon recently settling in Nevada, Bob’s friendly personality and team spirit got him swiftly elected as association leader by fellow members of his homeowner’s association. He was particularly proud of this honor. He even had a chance to pull together a band in the area as he enjoyed playing the electric guitar.

He is fondly remembered by his five siblings, two children, Chrissy and Bobby, and several grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family.

A celebration of Mr. Boyens’ life will be held at a later date.
