Laurie Lambert Nix: Loving wife and mother

Laurie Lambert Nix died on May 13, 2015 at the age of 46.

She was born on July 4, 1968 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Her family moved to California in 1971 and she was a Claremont resident for many years. Laurie attended Condit and Our Lady of the Assumption elementary schools and St. Lucy’s Priory High School. Always a good student, she earned a degree in finance from Loyola Marymount University in 1990, graduating with honors.

She married James “Royce” Nix on April 28, 2007 at a Solvang winery and, after an idyllic honeymoon in Tahiti, the couple made their home in Redondo Beach. They had two girls, Caitlin Brynn, 7, and Calleigh Reann, 5.

Ms. Lambert Nix began her professional career with Hughes Aircraft Company as a financial administrator and eventually transitioned to government contract administrator with what is now Raytheon Company. In these capacities, she supported the B2 and F-15 Radar Programs.

Laurie loved football and was a lifelong Vikings fan, enjoying a rivalry with a close friend who was a die-hard Packers booster. She had a dry sense of humor and loved spending time with family. Other favorite activities included reading, with mysteries being her favorite genre, and traveling, especially to Hawaii. She will be deeply missed, family shared.

Ms. Lambert Nix is survived by her husband and daughters as well as by her parents, Denis and Patricia Lambert. Funeral services were held on May 19, 2015 at St. Lawrence Martyr Church in Redondo Beach.

The family asks that any donations be made in Laurie’s honor to the American Heart Association and/or Wounded Warrior Project.
