Loving mother and grandmother, world traveler

Ann Leiga, longtime Claremont resident, died peacefully on October 22, 2017. She was 86 years old.

She was born Ann Louise Dumig in New York on April 4, 1931. She met her future husband, Algird Leiga, at a dance in New?York and they married on September 3, 1957.

The couple raised four children between New York and California, eventually settling down in Claremont in 1973. In retirement, they traveled extensively, and enjoyed seeing the world.

Ms. Leiga suffered from Multiple Sclerosis for much of her adult life. She was predeceased by her husband Al in 2013. 

Ms. Leiga is survived by her four children, Gerard Leiga of Placentia, California; Susan Leiga of San Leandro, California; Kathy Leiga of Auburn, California; and Steven Leiga of Mountain Ranch, California. She is also survived by her grandchildren Alexandria, Ethan, John and Andrew Leiga; Emily and Elizabeth Waters-Leiga; and Connor, Quinn and Jessica Morales.

A private funeral mass for family will be held on Friday, November 3 at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Claremont, followed by her burial at Oak Park Cemetery.
