Obituary: Rob Poling

CHS graduate, pilot, son, brother

Beloved son and brother Rob Poling died of natural causes on April 28 at the age of 59.

A native of Claremont, he was born May 7, 1959. He was a member of Claremont High School’s class of 1977, and played football for the Wolfpack. He graduated from the University of La Verne with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Mr. Poling owned a beautiful home in Rancho Niguel in Laguna Niguel. He was an account executive for Verizon Wireless where he won a place in the company’s “Winners Circle” each year for achievement above and beyond expectations, along with awards for salesman of the year.

God and family were his passions. He also loved cooking, entertaining, bicycling, kayaking, flying (he was a private pilot), travel and helping people. He had an amazing talent for repairing almost anything that needed repairing, his family shared.

He leaves behind his father, Robert W. Poling of Claremont; sister, Wendy Poling Kellam of Montgomery, Texas, and her two daughters; brother, Dave Poling of Upland, and his four children; sister, Francie Poling Grant of Laguna Niguel, her fiancé Jon Kolodge and her two sons; his dear friend Cathy Pillarella of Orange; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. They all were cherished and a major part of his life.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 26 at Shepherd of the Hills Church, 6080 Haven Ave., Rancho Cucamonga.
