Obituary: Sally McDonald
Grandmother, book club member, bicyclist
Sally McDonald, 77, of Claremont, died May 11 from complications of lung cancer.
Sally was born January 20, 1941 in Oakland, California to Herb and Margaret Copp. She attended Piedmont High School and graduated from the University of Pacific in 1961 with a bachelor’s degree in art history.
She married Don McDonald on June 23, 1962. In 1975 she became president of the Hanover Resort in Claremont and received many accolades there for landscaping and home improvement.
In the 1980s Ms. McDonald served as a school board member for Our Lady of Assumption Catholic School in Claremont. She was also the leader of the Claremont Senior Bike Group at the Joslyn Center from 1998 to 2015.
Her enjoyment came from her participation in the TCC Book Club, Mystery Book Club and Private Book Clubs as well as bunko. She also enjoyed framing art from clients and friends. She was an active member of the Rembrandt Club of Pomona College, Campus Women, Scripps Fine Arts Foundation, Assistance League of Pomona Valley, Curtain Raisers, Foothill Philharmonic, and retired member of the Pasadena Junior League.
She is survived by her husband Don; son Jeff and his wife, Deanna; daughter Terry Lynn and her partner, Mary; son Michael and his partner, Deborah; and four grandchildren.
A celebration of life mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 11 at Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 724 E. Bonita Ave., San Dimas. A reception will follow in the church hall.
