Obituary: Diana Carolyn Speakman
On August 20, at the age of 83, Diana Speakman died while surrounded by her family and friends.
Her life was filled with helping and nurturing others as a wife, mother, friend and registered nurse, and she lived a productive, fruitful life, always faithful to her family and savior, her family shared.
She was born in 1935 in our nation’s capital into a Marine family. She moved often as a child, and in 1954 graduated from Santa Ana Public High School in Santa Ana. She graduated from the Bishop Johnson College of Nursing at the Hospital of the Good Samaritan in Los Angeles in 1958, and married Robert Craig Speakman at United Presbyterian Church in Santa Ana on December 22, 1961.
Mrs. Speakman made a difference people’s lives as a registered nurse throughout her adult life, and introduced hundreds of children to the gospel through community and church led programs, her family shared. She was an active member of a local church in each community she lived in and in her later years she participated in multiple prayer committees at Baseline Community Church in Claremont. She was known to her friends and peers as a faithful prayer warrior, her family said.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Dorothea Arundale Woolley and Sidney Raymond Woolley.
Mrs. Speakman is survived by her husband Robert; her younger sister Beverly; her sons Dane, Steven and Benjamin and their families, which include her daughters in law, and her seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 1 at Baseline Community Church, 4552 N. Towne Ave., Claremont.
