Claremont resident Jay Frame, 82, died Monday, November 18 after a courageous battle against cancer.   

Jay was an independent sales rep before retiring more than 25 years ago. He married his wife, Debbie, in 1967. They had two children, Brandi and Jason, that they raised in Claremont. 

He had a passion for cars. Classics, hot rods and customs were his main focus, but he loved all cars in general. He spent a great deal of time taking his beloved 1955 Chevy Bel Air “Black Beauty” around to various local car shows. Occasionally, he would even help judge the cars he loved and respected so much.

Many knew of him as the guy sitting in his director’s chair in the garage watching the comings and goings of his beloved neighborhood.

He was diagnosed with cancer this past spring and endured a major surgery in June in an attempt at removing it. Unfortunately, the disease was relentless and he was diagnosed with end stage at the beginning of October. 

Mr. Frame was preceded in death by his loving wife Debbie a few weeks earlier, in October.

He is survived by his two children and their spouses; three grandchildren; and a number of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Frame was a member of the United States Navy and wanted his final resting place to be in the ocean. This has been arranged through the Neptune Society and, as such, no funeral or service will be held.
