Obituary: Peter Charles Love

Decorated Vietnam veteran, sports fan, devoted husband, father

Peter Charles Love, devoted husband and father, died January 4 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was 74.

Peter was born in Potomac, Maryland to the late Dr. Julian and Mina Love. He grew up and went to school in Arcadia, California. He graduated from San Diego State University.

He married Eliza Little on September 1, 1974 in Claremont. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served in the Marines and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

Mr. Love shared his love of sports, most notably baseball, by being active in Little League and serving as an umpire.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Julian and Mina Love.

Mr. Love is survived by his wife, Eliza Love; son, Joseph and his wife, Kelly; daughter, Baylor and her husband, Chris; son, Fred and fiancé, Rachel Ison; grandsons, Kai and Kieran; brothers, Frank and Julian; and is the beloved uncle of Carrie Anne, Egan and Julia Little. 

Private services will be held at a later date.

“Please honor him by spending time exploring nature with someone you love,” his family shared. “In Judaism we say, ‘May you be comforted amongst the mourners of Jerusalem,’”
