Obituary: Dennis Grubel

Proud Buckeye, meat and poultry product designer, woodworker, gardener

Dennis L. Grubel, age 69, died March 1. Dennis was born in Tiffin, Ohio on April 29, 1950, to John O. and Anna Lawhead Grubel, and lived in Claremont at the time of his death.

He graduated from Mohawk High School in Sycamore, Ohio, in 1968. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in animal sciences from The Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences.

He went on to work as a quality control and product development manager for various meat  companies. He designed meat and poultry products domestically and internationally, including Mexico, Canada, and throughout the Pacific Rim, creating unique products for their clientele. 

During the last 10 years of his life, he specialized in nutritional labeling for restaurants and meat and poultry companies.

In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He also cheered heartily for Ohio State in both football and basketball.

He is survived by his wife, Nedra Lynn (Pyles) Grubel; daughter, Megan Dahlberg of Claremont; son, Darren Grubel of Fresno; sister, Beth Ella McVicker; and brother, Keith O. Grubel.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas E. Grubel of McCutchenville, Ohio. 

Memorial services will be held at a future date.
