Police Blotter: March 8, 2024

Friday, March 1

With the assistance of the Claremont Motel 6 management, the Claremont, Glendora, and Upland police departments and Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Bureau of Investigation conducted an undercover prostitution detail in the area of Indian Hill Blvd. and the 10 Freeway following complaints from residents, business owners, and passersby regarding sex workers in the area. Six undercover officers posed as prostitutes and solicited johns. Eight suspects were arrested: San Bernardino resident Gustavo Alvarado Quinones, 27; Joseph Damond, 67, of Perris; Upland residents Christhian Oliverarojas, 31, and Yusef Malik Jeffries Jr., 32; 27-year-old Pleasanton resident Zezhou Long; Joshua Valle, 25, from Covina; Fontana resident Richard Eduardo Garcia, 31; and Ruben Iniguez, 22, of Valencia. All of the suspects were booked and later released with citations to appear in Pomona Superior Court.

At 9:01 p.m., CPD officers pulled over 51-year-old Ontario resident Jesse Robledo for a moving violation near Arrow Highway and Mills Avenue. A records check revealed Robledo had an outstanding felony warrant out of San Bernardino County related to a narcotics charge. He was subsequently arrested, taken to the CPD jail, booked, but later released due to a medical condition. Police said he was not issued a citation and that his warrant was put back into the system pending a follow-up investigation.

Saturday, March 2

Police were on the lookout for a car after a witness called in to report an intoxicated driver. After locating a car matching the description near the 210 Freeway Baseline Road exit at about 2:31 a.m., officers allegedly observed the driver, 44-year-old El Monte resident Alberto Garcia,  commit a moving violation and that his car had an equipment violation, and pulled him over. A records check revealed Garcia had a suspended license for a previous DUI conviction. He was then given field sobriety tests and was arrested for misdemeanor counts of DUI and driving on a suspended license. After being transported to CPD jail he was booked and held for detoxification, then later released with a citation to appear in court.

Sunday, March 3

About 2:35 a.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a car that had crashed into a pole along the 100 block of S. Mills Avenue. Police detained two passengers from the car when they arrived but said the driver, Pablo Matias, 42, of Ontario, had fled to scene. They located him a short distance away, and after field sobriety tests, he was arrested for DUI and hit and run, both misdemeanors. After being booked at CPD he was held for detoxification and later released with a citation to appear in court. The two passengers were released at the scene.

Police received a 5:15 p.m. call from a person at a house in the 900 block of W. Arrow Highway stating Kentyah Tyler, a 33-year-old Pomona woman, was outside, in violation of a court order. Arriving officers arrested her and transported her to CPD jail where she was booked for the misdemeanor of violating the court order. However, she was released due to a medical issue and did not receive a citation before leaving. Police said she would likely receive a citation when the medical issue is resolved.

Sunday, March 4

CPD officers questioned 24-year-old San Bernardino resident Antony Cerano at 12:17 a.m. after noticing his car was parked at Blaisdell Park, 440 S. College Ave., after hours. A records check revealed Cerano had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of San Bernardino County. He was arrested, taken to CPD, booked, and released with a citation to appear in court.

About 10:20 a.m., police say Charles Ross, 48 of Pomona, was urinating outside the Chevron/McDonald’s storefront, 860 S. Indian Hill Blvd., and detained him. A records check revealed Ross had a misdemeanor warrant. He was arrested, taken to jail, booked, and released with a citation to appear at Pomona Superior Court.

Officers said 36-year-old Michael Edwards, of Pomona, stepped off the curb at 8:52 p.m. near the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue right in front of a CPD police cruiser, forcing the driver to brake suddenly to avoid hitting him. Police then questioned Edwards and said he displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. He then allegedly told police he had recently smoked methamphetamine. Edwards was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and transported to CPD jail, where he was booked. He left pending a medical issue but not before receiving a citation to appear in Pomona Superior Court.
