Tuesday, June 26

A 72-year-old man who was reported missing a day before from Fredericksburg, Virginia was found in Claremont. Police found the man sitting on a curb near the intersection of College Avenue and Arrow Highway, Cpl. Jacob Tillman of the Claremont Police Department said. It is unknown why he was in Claremont. He appeared in good health, and he was taken off the missing persons list.

Police are looking for a woman who apparently stabbed another woman in the leg in an unprovoked attack. The 41-year-old victim called police to the area of San Antonio High School around 6:47 p.m. and reported she stabbed in what she described as a “random attack.” She suffered a laceration to her right leg and was transported to a hospital. The suspect was nowhere to be found. She was described as a Caucasian woman, around 55 to 60 years old with blonde hair and blue eyes, five feet, seven inches tall and 160 pounds wearing light colored clothing.

A Honda Civic was stolen from in front of a home on the 700 block of Northwestern Drive. The theft happened some time before 8 p.m., when the victim returned home to find the silver four-door gone. There were no signs of forced entry, and there was no suspect information.

Wednesday, June 27

Two cars were broken into at the same time in the Denny’s parking lot. Police were called to the diner on south Indian Hill Boulevard around 11:40 p.m. after the first burglary was discovered. At the first car, the unknown burglar smashed the front passenger side window and stolen $50 in cash and makeup. As officers were searching the area, they found another car that had been broken into. This time, the burglar smashed the driver’s side window and stole $500 in cash. There is no suspect information. Both thefts are likely related due to the proximity and the time when they occurred.

Thursday, June 28

A San Dimas man was arrested after he was allegedly caught driving a stolen car. The car, a 2017 Ford Mustang that was reported stolen out of Chino Hills the day before, was found in the 7-Eleven parking lot at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Towne Avenue around midnight. The driver, 28-year-old Ali Abdi, was arrested for grant theft auto, possession of stolen property and for having an unrelated warrant out for his arrest.

A television, a guitar and miscellaneous tools were stolen from a home on the 500 block of Geneva Avenue. Between 4:30 p.m. on June 27 and 9:30 a.m. on June 28, the unidentified burglar entered through a rear door and stole the items, which were valued at around $2,200. Neighbors reportedly saw the thief get away in a black SUV. Anyone with information should call the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399-5411.

Around $1,200 in cash was burglarized from a car in the Claremont Club parking lot. Between 4:45 p.m. and 5 p.m., the unknown thief smashed the passenger side window and stole a backpack, a purse and the cash. There is no suspect information.

Friday, June 29

Two people were arrested, one on a drug charge, during a routine traffic stop in front on the Chevron/McDonalds on south Indian Hill Boulevard. The officer pulled over a car driven by 33-year-old John Utley of Alta Loma just after midnight for a busted headlight. During the stop, the officer allegedly found a drug pipe in Mr. Utley’s possession. A passenger initially gave a false name to police, but after she gave her real name, Salena Williams, 22, of Pomona, police found she had a warrant out for her arrest.

Three people were arrested for drug charges on the 400 block of Vista Drive. Police were called to the neighborhood around 3 a.m. after a black Kia Sorrento was seen driving around the block then coming to a stop in front of a driveway. When police arrived, they found three occupants—36-year-old Jorge Gomez, 28-year-old Jacqueline Sosa and 29-year-old James Avila, all of Pomona—were reportedly in possession of methamphetamine. Mr. Gomez also had a meth pipe on him. All three were arrested and transported to CPD jail.

Police were called to the 1000 block of Foothill Boulevard regarding a possible drunk driver in a black GMC Jimmy around 8 a.m. The driver, 54-year-old Tamie Borja of ?Long Beach, wasn’t drunk, but she allegedly had a small amount of meth on her. She was arrested and transported to CPD jail.

Police were called to the Stater Bros parking lot around 2 p.m. after a witness claimed they saw a drug deal in progress. At the scene, police found 54-year-old Victor Grande of Torrance, who reportedly had heroin and a syringe. No other suspect was located. Mr. Grande was arrested and transported to CPD jail.

Sunday, July 1

A Pomona man was arrested for burglary after he allegedly broke into a home. Police say 31-year-old Demonte Turrentine entered the home on the 100 block of Brown Drive through a window around 6:50 p.m. He was reportedly given a restraining order in the past. Upon returning, the victim saw Mr. Turrentine at the home and immediately called police. Mr. Turrentine was arrested for burglary and violating a restraining order.
