Police blotter 10-18-19
Tuesday, October 8
Officers were called to the Colleges at 230 E. Bonita Ave. in front of Blaisdell Hall around 12:45 p.m., after 22-year-old Marco Lopez of Upland was leaving the area on a stolen bicycle, Lt. Jason Walters of the Claremont Police Department said. Police followed Mr. Lopez to Fremont and Moreno Street in Montclair, where Mr. Lopez then took off on foot through a business complex. A Campus Safety officer fell during the foot pursuit, causing a wrist injury. Mr. Lopez was found on the 8900 block of Central Avenue, where he was arrested on charges of theft, resisting arrest and battery on a police officer.

An officer responded to a home on the 3100 block of Lansbury around 10 p.m. on a call of a man and a woman who were arguing. Anita Aquiletra, 40, of Claremont was the only person at the scene when police arrived, and refused to comply with their orders. At one point, Ms. Aquiletra allegedly tried to punch the officer in the face, but missed. She was taken to the ground and arrested on suspicion of assault on an officer and public intoxication. Lt. Walters noted she also allegedly broke a telephone at the Claremont jail.
Thursday, October 10
Police arrested a Pomona man on drug and arson charges stemming from a bizarre incident at the Claremont Lodge. Police were called to the motel around 11 a.m. due to someone staying past their checkout time. At the room, they found 26-year-old Javier Garay under the influence of an unknown drug. He also allegedly lit a cardboard box on fire in the bathroom. Mr. Garay was arrested and taken to CPD jail. A toilet in the room had some burn damage.

After trying to leave campus around 1:30 p.m., a Claremont High School student was caught with two LSD tablets. The 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing drugs and taken to CPD jail, where he was cited out to a parent.

Police arrested 34-year-old Ali Lopez after they discovered the GMC Sierra he was driving was stolen. Around 11:30 p.m., an officer ran the plate on the truck in front of the Wine and Liquor Market at 750 S. Indian Hill Blvd. and found it belonged to another car. A check of the truck’s VIN confirmed it was reported stolen. Mr. Lopez, the driver, was arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto and an unrelated warrant.
Friday, October 11
Two people were arrested after getting caught in a stolen Nissan near Base Line Road and Towne Avenue. Officers in the area around 12:45 p.m. found out the car had been stolen out of Los Angeles on October 4 and pulled the car over. The driver, 27-year-old Sara Thoma of Los Angeles, was arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto and driving with a suspended license. A passenger, 30-year-old Sen Sarom of Los Angeles, was allegedly in possession of meth, a meth pipe and some burglary tools.

Yet another stolen car was recovered, this time at Foothill and Towne around 3:30 a.m. Police ran a plate on a Cadillac CTS and found it had been stolen, Lt. Walters said. The driver, 41-year-old Duane Edwards, was arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto. A 48-year-old woman in the passenger seat was also arrested for an unrelated warrant.
Saturday, October 12
A Pomona man was arrested on a drug charge in front of the Pet Resort at 825 west Foothill Boulevard. Police were called to the business due to a “suspicious person” and found 21-year-old Ramon Cazares in the parking lot and allegedly under the influence of an unknown substance. He was arrested and taken to CPD jail.
Monday, October 14
A gold Apple Watch and a wallet were taken from a car that was parked on the 100 block of South Indian Hill Boulevard, near the Garner Glass building. The suspect shattered the window of the victim’s Honda Civic and took the goods, which were valued at $570. There is no suspect information.
