Police blotter 3-6-20

Tuesday, February 25

A man arrested on drug charges tried to smash his meth pipe in front of police. Officers arrived at Blaisdell Park around 1:40 a.m. to find 54-year-old Rodney Rodriguez sleeping on a bench. Mr. Rodriguez allegedly had meth on him, in addition to the pipe he shattered, Det. Matt Hamill of the Claremont Police Department said. He was arrested and taken to CPD jail.

A Pomona woman was arrested after she allegedly picked up her eight-year-old son at Oakmont Elementary while driving drunk. A witness called police around 3 p.m. claiming that 35-year-old Sarah Reaves was possibly intoxicated, Det. Hamill said. She was located in Pomona, and officers smelled alcohol on her breath. She was arrested for DUI and child endangerment and taken to CPD jail.

Claremont police arrested 34-year-old Jerome Daniels of Upland for being under the influence of an unknown substance after he was seen walking in the roadway near Indian Hill Boulevard and Vista Drive. He was taken to CPD jail, where he was released with two citations and taken to a local hospital after he complained of chest pains.

Wednesday, February 26

A West Covina man was arrested after he allegedly bit his ex-girlfriend while they were in a car at the Shell gas station. Police were called to the gas station around 9:30 p.m., and the 27-year-old victim told them the suspect bit her, spit in her face and refused to get out of the car after an argument, Det. Hamill said. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and taken to CPD jail.

Thursday, February 27

Police are looking for a man who fondled another man at the Strehle Track at the Claremont Colleges. The victim was on the track around noon when the suspect stopped him by saying there was a spider on the victim’s back. The suspect patted the victim down, then pulled down his shorts and underwear and inappropriately touched the victim’s behind, Det. Hamill said. The suspect then ran away and was not caught. He was described as an African-American man in his early 20s.

Friday, February 28

Police are looking for a woman who fought another woman and stole her wallet at Motel 6. Around 2:45 a.m., the victim was in a room with a friend when the suspect knocked on the door and claimed the victim had a “beef” with her, Det. Hamill said. The suspect punched the victim in the face, and they began fighting. The suspect then grabbed the victim’s purse and took off, with the victim’s friend in pursuit. Ultimately, the friend retrieved the purse, but the victim’s wallet was missing. The suspect was described as a Hispanic woman with black hair, “husky,” and wearing a black shirt and pink pants.

A 21-year-old Claremont man was arrested for domestic violence after he allegedly bit, strangled, and pulled his 19-year-old girlfriend’s hair over the course of two days. According to police, the suspect held down the victim during an argument and bit her on her cheek, lip and neck. The next day, the suspect allegedly strangled the victim with his left hand and pulled her hair during another argument in a car. He was arrested and taken to CPD jail, where he later bonded out. The victim was not taken to a hospital.

A Monrovia man was arrested on suspicion of elder abuse after police said he hit his 89-year-old mother at the Knight’s Inn. Police were called to the motel around 12:24 p.m. after witnesses heard a woman crying. The victim told police her 60-year-old son left her in the motel room by herself, punched her in the eye and told her to “shut her mouth” or he’d take her to a retirement home, Det. Hamill said. The suspect was arrested when he arrived back to the motel on suspicion of elder abuse. He also had meth on him.

Saturday, February 29

Police are looking for a man who repeatedly groped a woman at The Press last Saturday night. The suspect introduced himself to the 26-year-old victim as “Chance,” and as the victim was standing near the bar, he touched her buttocks twice. The victim yelled at him to stop, and Chance later left the bar and could not be found. He was described as a Caucasian man, 25 years old, five feet, 10 inches tall and 180 pounds with blonde hair.
