A trio of young alleged car thieves led officers from three police jurisdictions, a dog and a helicopter pilot on a stolen car pursuit. It began about 1 a.m. near the corner of Indian Hill Blvd. and San Jose Ave., when Claremont cops ran the plate of a Honda Civic, which came back stolen out of San Diego. The officers attempted to stop the driver, Michael Hall, 18, from San Diego, but he bolted and entered the 10 freeway, heading west. He then exited at Garey Ave. in Pomona, and continued north. Mr. Hall turned left into the Yorba neighborhood, and came to a stop near the intersection of Berkeley Ave. and Artesia St. He and his passengers, two 17-year-old boys also from San Diego, then took off on foot. A Pomona Police Department canine unit and a L.A. County Sheriff’s helicopter were engaged to aid in the search for the trio, who were found hiding nearby soon thereafter. Mr. Hall was arrested and charged with two felonies: grand theft auto and evading arrest, and misdemeanor resisting arrest. He was held in the Claremont jail before being arraigned in Pomona Superior Court January 28. His two minor passengers were each charged with felony grand theft auto and misdemeanor resisting arrest, then taken to Central Juvenile Hall in Los Angeles, where they were held pending their arraignment.
