Boys water polo
After last week’s bye, the boys returned to action after press time Thursday, September 22 with a 5:30 p.m. home game against Burroughs in the Wolfpack Varsity Tournament, followed by a 7:30 p.m. match Friday against Temple City. On Saturday, September 24, tournament action continues with games against two TBA opponents. Game times are also TBA.
Next Tuesday, September 27, the Wolfpack will travel to Glendora to open up Palomares League play at 4 p.m.
Last Thursday, September 15, the Wolfpack hosted Bonita and lost 3-0 in Palomares League play. On Tuesday, September 20, the team traveled to Ayala and lost, 3-1. Thursday’s home match against Alta Loma took place after press time.
The Pack will host Glendora next Tuesday, September 27, and then travel to Colony Thursday, September 29, with first serves set for 4:30 p.m.
On Friday, September 16, Claremont picked up a 24-7 victory at Alta Loma in nonleague play. Senior running back Caden Campuzano carried the ball 24 times, rushing for a total of 112 yards with one touchdown. The result boosts Claremont’s record to 2-1 ahead of Friday’s nonleague home game against Bonita. The following Friday, September 30, the team will close out the month with a nonleague home game against South Hills. Both kickoffs are set for 7 p.m.
Boys and girls cross-country
Key results from the Woodbridge Cross Country classic on Thursday, September 15: in the boys three-mile red junior race, Claremont came in first place out of 19 schools with a score of 50. CHS junior Aidan Kiley placed third overall with a 16:39.1 finish while junior Ethan Gillin-Wheeler was not too far behind, finishing sixth with a time of 16:50.3.
In the boys three-mile red freshman race, the team placed second overall with a score of 135, just 11 points behind Portola Irvine. CHS freshman Lyle Mideiros finished highest for the Wolfpack, placing seventh with a final time of 16:57.6.
The girls team did not place in any of their races but during the three-mile girls red sophomore race, Isabelle Shie placed third with a time of 19:43.4. To view results from other races, visit athletic.net/crosscountry/meet/206390.
On Saturday, September 24, the teams will head north for the 2022 Nike Portland Cross-Country Invite at Blue Lake Regional Park near Portland, Oregon. Races are set to begin at 9 a.m. Live results can be viewed at: athletic.net/crosscountry/meet/206753/info.
On Saturday, October 1, the teams will compete in the Temecula Twilight Invitational at Galway Downs in Temecula. Races are set to begin at 5:30 p.m. Meeting details and runners’ times will be posted at ca.milesplit.com/meets/486692-temecula-twilight-2022/info#.Yyumfy1h24I.
On Wednesday, September 21, the team hosted Los Osos at Marshall Canyon in La Verne and won, 227-258. Thursday’s away match against Glendora, which kicked off Palomares League, was played after press time.
Next Thursday, September 29, the team will host Ayala at Marshall Canyon to continue Palomares League play. Tee-off is set for 2:30 p.m.
Last Thursday, September 15, the Wolfpack hosted Walnut in nonleague play and sunk the Mustangs, 13-5.
On Tuesday, September 20, the Pack traveled to Glendora to open up Palomares League play and brought home a 12-6 victory. The team’s final nonleague match at home against Redlands, originally set for Wednesday, September 21, was rescheduled to next Wednesday, September 28. The Pack’s Thursday, September 22, home league matchup against Colony was played after press time.
Next week, the team is at home against Bonita on Tuesday, September 27 in league play. Then on Thursday, September 29, the Pack will travel to Ayala in Chino Hills. Matches are set for 3:15 p.m.

Last Thursday, September 15, the Gauls lost 11-10 at home to Sierra Vista in Mountain View League action. Then on Saturday, September 17, the Gauls stumbled at home again, this time losing 12-5 to El Rancho in a nonleague match.
The team bounced back on Tuesday, September 20 with a big 17-2 league win at Workman. The Gauls continued league play on Thursday, September 22 with an away trip to Nogales that was played after press time.
The team is back in action next Tuesday, September 27 with a 3:30 p.m. away league game with Edgewood.
On Saturday, September 17, Webb hosted a San Joaquin League doubleheader against Avalon, which the teams split. The girls won the first game, 3-1, but dropped the second, also 3-1. On Tuesday, September 20, the team hosted Woodcrest Christian and lost 3-2 in nonleague play. Thursday, September 22’s San Joaquin League matchup at Fairmont Prep was played after press time.
On Saturday, September 24, the team will participate in the Chadwick Tournament in Palos Verdes at Pascoe Pavilion Gym against TBD opposition. The team’s first game begins at 8:30 a.m. Next Tuesday, September 27, the Gauls will continue league action when they host Capistrano Valley Christian at 6 p.m. On Thursday, September 29, the team hosts Tarbut V’Torah in a 5 p.m. league game.
On Saturday, September 17, Webb fell at home, 38-7, against the Trojans of Silver Valley in the second week of Manzanita League action. Webb School senior wide receiver Bryan Oglesby scored the Gauls’ only touchdown late in the fourth quarter. The team has an even 1-1 record in league play.
On Saturday, September 24, the team will travel to Winchester to face Temecula Prep in Manzanita League play. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
Next Friday, September 30, the team’s home league match against Sherman Indian is in doubt as the Riverside team recently canceled its season. The Gauls are currently looking for a substitute opponent.
On Thursday, September 15, Webb played host to West Covina in nonleague play at Marshall Canyon, coming away with a 249-325 victory. Then on Tuesday, September 20, the team hosted Marshall Fundamental Secondary School and notched another win, 242-325. The team’s Thursday, September 22, match against Mayfield was canceled.
Next Tuesday, September 27, the team opens San Joaquin League play with a trip to Samueli Academy in Santa Ana. On Saturday, October 1, the team will face Rowland at Marshall Canyon, with tee-off set for 3:15 p.m.

Key results from the Woodbridge Cross Country classic on Thursday, September 15: out of 23 schools in the boys three-mile varsity A race, the Gauls finished fifth overall with a score of 178. Webb senior Etienne Griffon placed 12th out of 170 competitors in the heat, finishing with a time of 15:54.8.
In the girls three-mile varsity A race, Webb finished 21st out of 22 with a score of 582. Webb freshman Nicole Samson placed 38th out of 164, finishing with a time of 19:52.6.
