Boys water polo

Results from the Wolfpack Varsity Tournament: on Thursday, September 22 Claremont defeated Burroughs, 16-6, in the first game, then followed it up with an evening win over Temple City, 21-15. On Saturday, September 24, the team lost 14-10 to Burbank in the morning before bouncing back in the afternoon against Santiago High of Corona with a 15-11 victory.

The team then opened up Palomares League play on Tuesday, September 27, and picked up a 14-8 victory at Glendora.

On Monday, October 3, the Pack will host Colony for a 3:30 p.m. league match. Then on Wednesday, October 5, it will host Bonita at 4 p.m.

Claremont hosts the Varsity October Classic tournament next weekend and is set to play TBD opposition at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, October 7, and at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 8.

Girls volleyball

On Thursday, September 22, the Wolfpack hosted Alta Loma in Palomares League action and won 3-0. On Tuesday, September 27, the team fell to Glendora, 3-1, at home. The team’s match at Colony on Thursday, September 29, was played after press time.

Claremont is at Bonita on Tuesday, October 4, and hosts Ayala Thursday, October 6. First serves are set for 4:30 p.m.

 

Football

On Thursday, September 22, Claremont lost a tight one at home against Bonita, 31-28, in nonleague action. Senior running back Caden Campuzano was the star of the show for the Wolfpack, carrying the ball 16 times for 92 yards. The senior also made six receptions and picked up 85 receiving yards, finishing with 177 total yards and three touchdowns. The result gives CHS an even 2-2 overall record ahead of Friday’s nonleague home game against South Hills. On Friday, October 7, the team will travel to Covina for the final nonleague game of the season. Kickoffs are set for 7 p.m.

Boys and girls cross-country

Key results from the 2022 Nike Portland Cross-Country Invite on Saturday, September 24: out of 24 schools in the boys 5,000-meter Danner Championships, Claremont finished 15th overall with a score of 384. CHS junior Andrew Lee placed highest for the Wolfpack, finishing in the 63rd position out of 176 with a time of 16:30.0.

In the girls 5,000-meter Danner Championships, Claremont finished 17th out 24 teams with an overall score of 376. Out of 178 runners, CHS junior Denise Jie Yi Chen finished in the 11th position with a final time of 18:11.2.

Girls golf

On Thursday, September 22, Claremont faced Glendora at the Glendora Country Club to begin Palomares League play and came home with a 219-228 victory. The team’s Thursday, September 29, Palomares League matchup against Ayala at Marshall Canyon was played after press time.

On Monday, October 3, the team will take part in the Walnut Invitational at the California Country Club in Whittier. Tee-off is 8 a.m.

The Pack will return to league play next Thursday, October 6, with a home game against Glendora. Tee-off is 2:30 p.m.

Girls tennis

On Thursday, September 22, the Wolfpack swept Colony, 18-0, at home in Palomares League play. Then on Tuesday, September 27, it secured another home league victory against Bonita, 17-1. On Wednesday, September 28, the team played its final nonleague match of the season, besting Redlands at home, 14-4. Claremont’s Thursday, September 29, Palomares League matchup against Ayala was played after press time.

Next Monday, October 3, the team will travel to Colony. Then on Thursday, October 6, the Pack will host Glendora at home. Matches are set for 3:15 p.m.

The Webb Schools

Boys water polo

On Thursday, September 22, the Gauls traveled to Nogales for Mountain View League action and came away with a 22-1 victory. Then on Tuesday, September 27 the team won at Edgewood, 13-1.

Webb is back in action next Thursday, October 6 when they host Workman at 4 p.m.

Girls volleyball

Results from the Chadwick Tournament in Palos Verdes: on Saturday, September 24, the Gauls took down Wildwood, 3-0, but fell against West Torrance, 3-0. In a single set elimination game, the team lost to host Chadwick, 1-0.

On Tuesday, September 27, Webb lost to Capistrano Valley Christian, 3-0, at home. The team’s Thursday, September 29, home league matchup against Tarbut V’Torah was played after press time.

Next Thursday, October 6, the Gauls have a 6 p.m. match at Western Christian.

Football

On Saturday, September 24, Webb traveled to Temecula Prep for Manzanita League play and fell 17-6. The result leaves the Gauls with a 1-2 league record, 1-3 overall.

The team has byes this week and next, returning Thursday, October 13 with a 7:30 p.m. game at California Military Institute in Perris.

Girls golf

On Tuesday, September 27, the team opened San Joaquin League play against Samueli Academy in Santa Ana and won 226-312. The team’s Thursday, September 29 home match against Fairmont Prep was held after press time.

On Saturday, October 1, the team will face Rowland at Marshall Canyon in a nonleague game. Then on Thursday, October 6, the team will host Samueli Academy. Tee-offs are set for 3:15 p.m.

Girls tennis

On Thursday, September 22, Webb played host to Fairmont Prep in a San Joaquin League match, coming away 14-4 victors. Then on Tuesday, September 27, the team hosted Pacifica Christian Newport Beach and won, 10-8. The team’s Thursday, September 29, away match at Western Christian was played after press time.

At 3:30 p.m. on Friday, October 7, the team will host the Pandas of Immaculate Heart in a nonleague game.

Boys and girls cross-country

Webb had a bye the week of September 18 and returned to action after press time Thursday, September 29, when they hosted a nonleague meet against Garey and Montclair. Times will be posted online at meetresults.net/extramile/today/index.htm.

The boys team will return to action at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 1 at the Bellarmine/Sacred Heart Invitational at Griffith Park in Los Angeles. Race info and times will be posted at athletic.net/crosscountry/meet/207373/info.
