Girls tennis

On November 30, senior singles player Sydney La competed in the Division I CIF-Southern Section Individual championship tournament and fell, 2-0, in the first round against Vista Murrieta’s Brandy Babcock-Hannah. Full results are at cifss.org.

 

Boys basketball
Results from the November 30 Northview Tournament: Covina beat the Wolfpack, 59-56. On December 1, Claremont was blown out, 73-21, by Damien, followed by a 47-44 loss to Northview on December 2.

The Pack hosts Diamond Ranch at 5 p.m. Saturday, December 10 then will travel to Covina Tuesday, December 13 for a 6:30 p.m. game.

Girls basketball
Results from the Claremont/Bonita Tournament: The Wolfpack hosted Temecula Valley December 6 and won easily, 56-21. The team played Chino Hills December 8 and Walnut on December 9 after press time.

On Tuesday, December 13, Claremont hosts Rancho Cucamonga at 7 p.m. Then on Friday, December 16, the team travels to Corona Del Mar for a 6:30 p.m. contest.

 

Boys soccer
The Pack hosted Ganesha December 2 and tied, 0-0, and Bishop Amat on December 6, which also resulted in a scoreless tie. The team hosted Riverside Poly after press time on December 9

On Tuesday, December 13, the Pack travels to Don Lugo for a 5 p.m. contest, then on Friday, December 16 is at Chino Hills for a 6:30 p.m. match.

 

Girls soccer
The Wolfpack hosted Etiwanda on Thursday, December 8 to begin the preseason. Results were available after press time.

Next Thursday, December 15, the team will host South Hills at 5:30 p.m., then on Saturday, December 17, the team kicks off the Claremont Holiday Classic at 8 a.m. against a TBD opponent.

 

Girls water polo
Results from the second annual Wolfpack Holiday Series: on December 2, the team opened play against San Dimas with a 13-10 win. Claremont won again, 10-9, in the quarterfinals later that day against West Hills of San Diego. On December 3, CHS beat Roosevelt in the semifinals, 14-7, then lost in the finals to Buena Park, 9-8.

The Wolfpack was back in action after press time December 9 in the Ayala Tournament.

 

Boys and girls wrestling
Results from the Tom Bravo Classic on December 3: the boys tied for 22nd out of 37 teams. No CHS wrestler medaled. Results from the girls Valencia Tournament were available after press time.

On December 9, the boys will travel to Gabrielino for the Gabrielino Tournament at 3 p.m. The girls travel to Mater Dei for the Mater Dei Tournament at 9 a.m. Saturday, December 10.

 

The Webb Schools

Boys basketball
Results from the Webb Classic Invitational: On December 1 the Gauls hosted Rio Hondo Prep and lost, 67-45; the team handled Ganesha, 68-28 December 2, and blasted Sherman Indian, 64-29, on December 3.

The Gauls traveled to United Christian Academy December 6 and lost, 76-46. On Friday, December 9, the team traveled to Ontario after press time.

On Tuesday, December 13, Webb begins Academy League play at Tarbut V’Torah at 5:30 p.m.

Girls basketball
Results from the Cougar Classic Tournament: On November 28 Webb beat New Harvest Christian, 51-26, then followed it up with another win against Pomona Catholic, 43-22 on November 30. The team fell to Rio Hondo Prep, 52-22, December 2, and in the third-place match December 3, lost to Western Christian, 27-12.

The Gauls were thrashed by Garey, 59-19, on December 6 to begin the Rick White Classic. Play continued after press time against Pilibos on December 8 and San Gabriel Mission on December 9.

On Tuesday, December 13, Webb opens Academy League play at San Gabriel Academy at 5 p.m.

Boys soccer
The Gauls defeated Gladstone, 3-1, at home December 1. On December 6 the boys traveled to Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary and tied, 1-1. On December 8, the team traveled to Arrowhead Christian after press time.

On Tuesday, December 13, the boys begin San Joaquin League play at home against Capistrano Valley Christian at 3:15 p.m.

Girls soccer
On December 3, the Gauls hosted Azusa and won big, 10-0. Senior forward Abbey Cook scored an amazing eight goals in the blowout victory. The Gauls welcomed Arcadia December 6 and won again, 1-0.

The team traveled to Arrowhead Christian December 8, and St. Lucy’s at Damien in La Verne on Saturday, December 10.

The girls kick off San Joaquin League play at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, December 13 at Capistrano Valley Christian.

Girls water polo
Results from the second annual Webb holiday series: on December 2, the team lost big to Warren, 16-1, followed by a 22-4 drubbing at the hands of loss Ramona later in the evening. The Gauls picked up a forfeit win December 3 against Heritage but later lost to Cajon, 15-2, to end the tournament.

Webb played host to Muir December 6, losing 19-12. The team hosted Rowland December 7. That score will be reported on in next week’s COURIER.

 

Boys wrestling
The Gauls began the season December 2, with a 39-33 win at Hamilton. On December 6, Webb lost at Burbank, 54-15.

The team travels to Pomona for a 4 p.m. meet December 9. Next Tuesday, December 13, the Gauls hosts both Covina and Ganesha at 5:30 p.m.
