Boys basketball

Claremont continued its disappointing season January 20 with a 62-34 loss to Glendora. The Pack then played host to Colony Wednesday, and lost, 62-32. Following Wednesday’s result, the team is 3-22 overall and 0-7 in league play.

Claremont is at Bonita Friday, then at Ayala on Tuesday, January 31. Both tipoffs are set for 7 p.m.

 

Girls basketball

Glendora snapped CHS’s 11-game win streak earlier this year, but Claremont exacted its revenge January 20 with a narrow, 41-40 win on the Tartans’ home court. On January 21, the Pack lost to Ontario Christian, 56-37, in the Glendora Shootout. On Wednesday, Claremont dismantled Colony, 64-7. The team is 22-3 overall and 6-1 in league.

The team heads to Bonita Friday and then to Ayala Tuesday, January 31. Tipoffs are set for 5:30 p.m.

 

Boys soccer

On January 19, the boys shut out Glendora, 3-0, and followed it up with a 2-1 victory over Colony on Tuesday, bringing its record to 12-1-5 overall and 5-0-2 in league.

The team hosted Bonita after press time Thursday and will return to action at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, January 31 at home versus Ayala.

 

Girls soccer

The girls also shut out Glendora, 3-0, on January 19. On Tuesday, they demolished Colony, 9-0. The results boost their overall record to 16-2-2, 6-0-1 in league.

Bonita hosted the Pack after press time Thursday. On Tuesday, January 31 Claremont heads to Ayala for a 5:15 p.m. game.

Results from the La Jolla tournament: CHS began January 19 with a 24-11 loss to La Jolla. On January 20 Claremont was dealt two losses, 16-8 to Carlsbad, and 17-10 to Westview. On January 21 the team fell to Riverside Poly, 18-13, then 18-0 to Cathedral Catholic, but bounced back with a 5-0 victory over Canyon Crest.

On Monday, the Pack posted a comeback win against Glendora, 11-10, to begin the Palomares Carousel. The Pack then fell at Alta Loma on Wednesday, 16-6, in the semifinals of the league tourney. The most recent result gives Claremont an even 13-13 record overall, 2-5 in league.

On Thursday, the Pack played Whittier after press time. Bonita High will be the venue for the third place match of the Palomares Carousel on Wednesday, February 1, where Claremont will go up against either Bonita or Ayala. Game time is TBD.

 

Boys and girls wrestling
On January 19, Claremont welcomed Ayala. The boys lost, 60-19, while the girls results were not made available. Results from the girls’ Ayala Tournament on January 20 and 21 were also not made available to the Courier.

CHS was at Alta Loma Tuesday. The boys lost, 69-3. The girls’ result was not made available to the Courier.

 

The Webb Schools

Boys basketball

Tarbut V’Torah edged Webb, 68-64, on January 19. On January 20, the Gauls beat Rio Hondo Prep, 57-45. Webb was then trounced by Western Christian on Tuesday, 81-40. The results leave the team with a 5-12 record overall, 1-5 in league.

The Gauls were at Fairmont San Juan Capistrano after press time Thursday. On Monday, January 30, they’re at Newport Christian for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff. Santa Ana Valley then comes to Webb at 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 1.

 

Girls basketball

The Gauls lost big to San Gabriel Academy January 19, 60-24. On January 20, California Lutheran dealt Webb another stinging loss, 53-32. The Gauls bounced back Tuesday against Western Christian, coming away with a 38-35 win. Tuesday’s result boosted the girls’ record to 6-13 overall and 2-4 in league.

On Saturday the team travels to Avalon for a 12:30 p.m. game. On Monday, January 30, Newport Christian hosts the Gauls at 6 p.m.

 

Boys soccer

The team notched a 2-1 win over Capistrano Valley Christian on January 20, boosting Webb’s overall record to 6-5-2, 4-1-1 in league.

Tarbut V’Torah came to town after press time Thursday. On Saturday, the team heads to Avalon for a 12:30 p.m. match. On Monday, January 30 they’re at Fairmont Prep at 2:45 p.m. before hosting Western Christian at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, February 1.

 

Girls soccer

Webb left no doubt January 20, coming away with a lopsided 9-0 victory against Capistrano Valley Christian. On Wednesday, the Gauls tied Cerritos, 1-1. The team’s overall record now sits at 11-1-2. The girls are 4-0-2 in league play.

On Friday, the team is at Pacifica Christian before traveling to Fairmont Prep Monday, January 30 for a 1 p.m. kickoff. The Gauls wrap up league play with a trip to Western Christian at 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 1.

Girls water polo

On January 19, the Gauls lost to San Dimas, 12-7, then beat Santa Ana Valley, 12-8, on January 20. On Monday, the team beat Edgewood, 16-9, followed by a Tuesday loss to Charter Oak, 18-13. The results leave Webb 5-12 overall and 0-6 in league.

The Gauls traveled to West Covina after press time Thursday. Webb is back in action at 3:30 p.m. Monday, January 30, when it hosts Edgewood. On Tuesday, January 31 the team will be at San Dimas at 4 p.m.

 

Boys wrestling

Results from the January 18 Montview League cluster: the team beat Duarte, 60-7, but lost to Sierra Vista, 72-6. The match leaves Claremont with an 8-4 overall record, 4-1 in league.

The Gauls wrapped up their season Wednesday against Sierra Vista, but the results were not made available to the Courier.
