Results from the 103rd CIF-State Track and Field Championships at Clovis: during prelims Friday, senior Benjamin Schulz, who competed in the paralympic division, set a new state record when he took first in the boys 400 at 1:00.36. Benjamin also finished third in shot put, at 9.84 meters; junior L’Mio Edwards placed eighth in the girls varsity 800-meter dash at 2:11.36, qualifying for finals on Saturday.

At finals Saturday, Benjamin took second in the 200, at 00:26.8; L’Mio placed ninth in the girls varsity 800 (2:10.26), and the girls 4×800 relay team of Kaitlyn Smith, Denise Jie Yi Chen, Isla Bulmer and L’Mio took fifth with a time of 9:09.68. Denise, a junior, will compete in the girls championship two-mile event at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor beginning June 15 in the at the University of Pennsylvania’s Franklin Field in Philadelphia. Details are at nbnationalsout.com.
