Pomona-Pitzer women’s soccer wraps winning season at NCAA tourney

Pomona-Pitzer women’s soccer team had a 2023 season to remember, sharing their fifth straight Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference league title with California Lutheran University, and winning its fourth consecutive SCIAC Tournament Championship by defeating Cal Lutheran, 1-0.

With the tourney win and league title, the team advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament where they beat Pacific Lutheran University, 1-0, in double overtime in the first round on November 11. Cal Lutheran got its revenge in the second round with a 1-0 win, capping Pomona-Pitzer’s season at 16-1-3, 9-0-3 in league.

Cal Lutheran went on to be crowned national champions, defeating Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, 1-0, on December 2. The full playoff bracket is at ncaa.com. For more information, visit pitzer.edu or sagehens.com/sports/wsoc.
