Claremont Lincoln University (CLU) has announced the appointment of Victor Manalo as director of the Claremont Core.

The Claremont Core is an integrated sequence of advanced courses—mindfulness, dialogue, collaboration and change—in which students develop awareness of self and others, use dialogue and collaboration across differences and develop effective strategies for organizational and community transformation. It is a core competency of all CLU master’s degree programs.

“We are so pleased to have a person of Dr. Manalo’s caliber coming to join us as a member of our team,” said CLU President Eileen Aranda. “His experience embodies the values of the Claremont Core and Claremont Lincoln University as a whole. As someone who has spent his career promoting organizational and community change and transformation, we are excited to see the impact he has on our programs and our students.”

As director, Mr. Manalo will serve as an administrator with teaching responsibility and will provide leadership and oversight of the program and its faculty. Mr. Manalo is a longtime university professor, social worker and member of the Artesia City Council, with many years of experience drawing from the principles of the Claremont Core to bring about change.

He has taught and worked in administrative capacities for many years for the master’s in social work programs at Cal State Los Angeles and Cal State Dominguez Hills and has lectured at the University of Southern California and Cal State Long Beach. He is also an active member of the National Association of Social Workers, having served in a variety of leadership positions at the local, state and national levels.

Mr. Manalo has a PhD in Social Work from the University of Southern California and a master’s in Social Work from Cal State Long Beach.
