Students earn scholarships from the National Charity League
The National Charity League held its annual senior high school scholarship awards luncheon May 19 at Red Hill Country Club in Rancho Cucamonga.
Four female high school students were each awarded a $1,500 check for use towards college expenses, including Stella Wong, who graduated from Claremont High School this week.
The National Charity League (NCL), Inc. is a national non-profit organization established in 1925 for mothers and daughters dedicated to charitable philanthropic endeavors focused on community service, leadership development and cultural experiences.
The NCL, Foothill Chapter serves the communities of Glendora, Upland, Claremont, La Verne and the surrounding areas in the San Gabriel Valley. One of the NCL’s philanthropic endeavors is to fundraise all year long for the opportunity to award local senior higha school girls college scholarships.
Eligibility requirements for the NCL college scholarship is to maintain a 3.0 GPA or better, have good moral character supported with letters of recommendation, provide evidence of involvement in community service and leadership, and to present a compelling essay to share the student’s personal story.
In addition to Stella, scholarship recipients include Stephanie Boulos of Western Christian School in Upland; Stella Wong, Claremont High School; Alexis Briano of Bonita High School in La Verne and Karina Kress of Glendora High School.
